چکیده

Objective: to study the relationship between microvascular lesions of Diabetes Mellitus and alterations in nailfold capillaroscopy. Subjects Methods: cross-sectional including 140 individuals (70 with 70 controls). Epidemiological clinical variables were collected from patient’s charts. Fundus ophthalmoscopy, capillaroscopy, analysis microalbuminuria renal clearance as well fasting glycaemia HbA1c values studied simultaneously. Results: capillary density was reduced, vascular dilatation increased patients when compared controls (both p<0.0001). In diabetic number dermal papillary capillaries/mm3 correlated negatively (p=0.02), age (p=0.03), (p=0.03). Patients retinopathy using antiplatelet agents had lower (p<0.0001 0.04 respectively). Capillary associated disease duration (p=0.04).Conclusion: is reflected Decreased density, ectasias presence avascular areas observed diabetes controls. present study, correlated/ associate age, retinopathy, use medication, HbA1c, duration. Ectasias or dilatations related glomerular filtration rate longer

Microvascular abnormalities in Sjögren's syndrome: nailfold capillaroscopy.

OBJECTIVE To describe microvascular abnormalities by nailfold capillaroscopy in patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome (SS) with or without Raynaud's phenomenon (RP) and those with anticentromere antibodies (ACA). METHODS Forty patients with SS (14 without RP, 16 with RP, 10 with ACA), 20 patients with scleroderma (SSc) (10 with limited and 10 with diffuse disease) (disease control group) a...

Nailfold capillaroscopy in leprosy*

Due to mounting evidences of interaction between Hansen's bacilli with endothelial cells and the paucity of studies addressing the presence of nailfold capillaroscopic alterations in patients with Hansen's disease, a study was carried out in order to verify the presence of capillaroscopic alterations in patients with leprosy in its various forms and its correlation with clinical parameters. Ten...

Nailfold Capillaroscopy in Diabetes Mellitus: Potential Technique for the Microvasculature Evaluation

The capillary loop consists of an arterial or afferent branch and a venous or efferent branch. The main parameters to be evaluated are: length, diameter, density, venous plexus and morphological abnormalities. These elements should be evaluated in the distal row or near the nailfold. The normal number of capillaries per millimeter is from seven to twelve arranged in an inverted U-shape (Figure 1).

Automated Categorisation of Nailfold Capillaroscopy Images

Nailfold capillaroscopy (NC) is a non-invasive imaging technique employed to assess the condition of blood capillaries in the nailfold. It is particularly useful for early detection of scleroderma spectrum disorders and evaluation of Raynaud’s phenomenon. While automated approaches to analysing NC images are relatively rare, they are typically based on extraction and analysis of individual capi...
